Planning Engineer Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Our Client has dual roles: as a Local Service Centre (LSC) providing integrated solutions for power plant operators across the UK and as a Service Execution Centre (SEC) providing engineering support to our installed fleet of impulse turbines and generators around the world.

The Plant Engineering function, based at offices in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Knutsford and Rugby, provides plant engineering expertise and services both within the compant and to external clients, in addition to managing a number of operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts and long term service agreements (LTSA) on combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) and industrial plants.

Due to business growth we have a vacancy for a Planning Engineer to carry out network analysis and provide programmes and resource requirements for tenders and projects. The main duties will include:
* Creating, updating, reviewing and managing project schedules to enable effective project control
* Participating in project risk reviews and critical action reviews by highlighting key risks and evaluating mitigation measures
* Developing and updating resource schedules to ensure resources are available to meet project needs
* Working with finance to set and monitor payment milestones, the cash flow profile and other key financial parameters to ensure accurate financial control

Candidates should be qualified to HNC level in an engineering discipline; have a minimum of three years experience of planning or project management within an engineering environment; have a working knowledge of power plant systems and equipment; be computer literate with a sound knowledge of proprietary planning software, ideally P3, and computer network analysis; be customer focussed and possess excellent problem solving, teamworking, planning and communication skills. The role will involve occasional travel to and working at other business locations within the UK and overseas.
